One solution for every requirement
From the shipping of small parts to heavy specialized goods: as a provider of diverse intralogistics solutions, Linde Material Handling is confronted with a wide variety of requirements for transport shipping.
With the PaperJet™, Papier Sprick was able to implement a versatile cushioning solution that meets the requirements of the different packing stations and the variety of products.
100% recycled paper and efficient material feed
With 62,717 items stored on 13,250 m2, the Regional Distribution Center in Kahl am Main is KION Group’s high-performance logistics center. The 652,000 packages shipped each year include spare parts from various KION brands, including forklift and warehouse trucks from the brand Linde Material Handling. The first contact with Papier Sprick was made at the LogiMAT trade fair.
“We were looking for a packaging solution for the new construction of our highly automated distribution center at the Kahl site. The PaperJet™ cushioning system and the use of eco-friendly recycled paper appealed to us straight away,”
says Process Manager Angelo Di Cara. “Thanks to the excellent cooperation with Papier Sprick, we decided to integrate the PaperJet™ directly into the existing logistics hall.”
Five packing situations - one solution
There are five different packing situations with different requirements in the current distribution center in Kahl. The product range extends from individual parts to heavy, specialized goods. Integrating 22 PaperJet™ machines proved to be the ideal solution for these requirements: “The simple operation, adjustable cushion lengths and different operating modes enable our employees to pack suited to the product,” says Di Cara.

With its small footprint, the PaperJet™ integrates seamlessly into the structural conditions of the various packing stations. This enables efficient, smooth work processes and easy material supply. A container solution for the pre-production of long cushions, which are ideal for protecting large goods, has been integrated at a dedicated packing station. For particularly heavy goods, the PaperJet™ Winder supplements the PaperJet™ and supplies the stations with strong paper cushioning coils. These are centrally pre-produced and can then be dispensed as required.
100% recycled paper and efficient material supply via ComPackt™ endless pallet
The PaperJet™ was integrated with material supply from the ComPackt™ endless pallet. This solution offers clear process benefits in terms of achieving sustainability targets and efficient set-up times. “Changeover is no longer necessary on a daily basis, but only about once a week,” explains Di Cara. In addition, the previous packaging solution has been replaced by eco-friendly recycled paper made from 100% waste paper. “We are pleased to be able to avoid the use of virgin fiber altogether and thus set an example for forest and environmental protection.”
